By reorienting a map of Australia to be "upside down" and highlighting Aboriginal languages, this representation challenges the dominant Eurocentric perspectives and emphasises the significance of Indigenous cultures and histories.
This reconfiguration questions the conventional constructs of Australia, inviting a re-evaluation of the nation's identity and identities and the power dynamics at play.
By placing Aboriginal languages at the centre of this map, it underscores the idea that cartography is a tool of influence and control, and that the meaning of maps must be critically interpreted rather than accepted uncritically.
